Ode to Basil Poledouris

A nice man with a wonderful last name composed one of my favorite albums ever: the film score to Wind (1992). All political-incorrectness aside (500th-year anniversary of Columbus’s landing and they put Geronimo on a sail?), this is an epic.

And part of this film’s greatness comes from Poledouris’s sublime score, which reaches its greatest heights towards the end of the film when Modine and crew reclaim the America’s Cup.

Unfortunately, the very very ending does not appear in this clip. I highly recommend scouring every corner of the earth for this film. Or, if I’m feeling generous, I’ll lend it to you. It has minimal dialogue, gorgeous cinematography, and of course, Poledouris. The perfect film!
